Legends of the Blues - From Mississippi to Chicago
With flair and originality the Edinburgh group, Jawbone Walk, was formed out of a mutual appreciation for classic blues music. Tonight, they present a new show travelling from the early Country blues and gospel styles of the pre war era, right up to the electric Chicago blues of the 1940s and 50s. Jawbone Walk are Toby Mottershead (vocals/guitar), Luke Cunningham (keys), Ewan Gibson (bass) and Vid Gobac (drums).
Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2021
This Edinburgh trio have been digging deep in the mines of music to unearth some killer blues grooves from the vaults. Serving up the spirit of 50’s era Chicago – with a strong shot of Mississippi Hill Country blues and a chaser of gospel to wash away your sins – they’re just bound to put a tiger in your tank.
Jawbone Walk (formally Heavy Pockets) are Toby Mottershead (vocals/guitar), Ewan Gibson (bass), and Vid Gobac (drums).
The group initially came together to run blues workshops for the EJBF – and during lockdown, with no gigs to play, this gave the trio a reason to keep producing music and stay connected with their local community.
